Welcoming speech by President of the Republic of Belarus,
Chairman of the Belarusian People’s Congress

Dear friends!
I welcome you to the website of the Belarusian People’s Congress!

The history of our unique national forum spans almost three decades. Throughout this time, its work has been widely covered in the media, at discussion platforms, during delegates’ meetings with labor collectives, invariably arousing genuine interest among our people.

Today, the information landscape has undergone a massive transformation and continues to evolve, with the internet playing a central role in this evolution. It has become the main channel for communicating socially important information, including information about the work of government agencies.

The Belarusian People’s Congress in its new constitutional status keeps pace with the times, and glasnost has been one of the guiding principles of its work.

It is symbolic that the website has been launched in a year that is very important for us, as this year marks the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. The unity of the Soviet people in that fateful period became the decisive factor in the Victory over fascism. And today, strengthening the unity of the Belarusian people and civil accord is a core ideological principle for the government as a whole and for the Belarusian People’s Congress, which is the highest representative body of people’s power.

I believe that the website will become a valuable source of information for a significant audience and will deliver timely and unbiased information about the work of the Belarusian People’s Congress, and will also contribute to an active public discussion on key areas of concern for the state and society.

President of the Republic of Belarus,
Chairman of the Belarusian People’s Congress,
Aleksandr Lukashenko
