Belarus’ Independence Day celebrations wrap up with anthem sing-alongs

The Independence Day celebrations on 3 July culminated in the Anthem Sing-Along campaign, SB Belarus Segodnya reported.

This campaign is about collective performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Belarus. The event took place at the end of the gala concert “Strong in unity, united in song” near the Minsk Hero City Obelisk.

“This year, unlike in previous years, the nationwide anthem sing-along featured live broadcasts from the cities of Belarus,” said Igor Krivulko, the main director of the gala concert, director of the Youth Variety Theater. “Live broadcasts from different cities of Belarus were shown on our central stage. We sang the national anthem in real time. This is the highlight of the whole concert. The event was broadcast by all Belarusian TV channels.”

Igor Krivulko also drew attention to another new feature: “It is worth noting that this year each participant of the sing-along had their own LED bracelets. Together we created a “living” flag during the performance of the anthem. It was not a fabric flag that we used before, but a ‘living, pulsating’ flag, which was created with the help of bracelets and a large number of participants.”

The Anthem Sing-Along campaign was held in all regional centers and large cities in the regions (with a population of more than 80,000).

In Minsk, the Anthem Sing-Along campaign took place at the largest venues of the city: Minsk Hero City Obelisk, Pobediteley Avenue, Masherov Avenue, Palace of Sports and the National Library of Belarus.
