Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko held the second meeting of the Presidium of the Belarusian People's Congress on 11 February
The event took place at the Palace of Independence and discussed the preparation for a major state event - the meeting of the Belarusian People's Congress scheduled for April.
Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized that the Belarusian People's Congress should do its job and not interfere with other government bodies.
The participants discussed the President's Address to the Belarusian people and the Parliament, new constitutional oversight powers of the Belarusian People's Congress (including the prime minister's report on social and economic development programs), personnel decisions and the organizational structure of the Belarusian People's Congress.
"If we want to have an effective state, we should begin with the optimization of governance processes, total de-bureaucratization and iron-clad executive discipline. Ultimately, the trust of the people depends on this. We must deliver on everything that we promised people together with you during the election campaign. And we will do it," Aleksandr Lukashenko summarized.
